Job Duties
Escorts patients within the Medical Center to and from patient units via appropriate means of transportation (e.g. wheelchair bed stretcher). Assists Nursing with lifting patient when requested.
Transports deceased patients to morgue.
Maintains records of assignments including description of person/item time of pickup and delivery obtaining appropriate signatures as required.
Ensures safety and comfort of patient (e.g. makes sure safety straps are properly fastened on wheelchairs and beds; assures that IV pole is firmly attached and that there IV bag is full; checks that patient has proper covers).
Keeps equipment (e.g. stretchers wheelchairs) clean and in good repair.
Customer Service: respect flexibility knowledge confidence professionalism pleasant attitude patience and helpfulness. All responses should be timely professional caring and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations.
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures objectives quality assurance program safety environmental and infection control standards. Assesses gaps in policies and procedures and create necessary policies and procedures to fulfill these gaps.
Understands and adheres to the Medical Centers Code of Conduct.
Familiar with the Medical Centers Mission Vision and Values Statements.
Other Duties
Acts as a messenger when required.
Transports support equipment as required.
Completion of training program.
Performs other related duties as required.
Position Qualifications
Minimum of 1year previous patient care experience preferred.
Good oral communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills.
Speaks reads and writes English to the extent required by the position. Bilingual preferred.
Education
High school diploma or equivalency preferred.

Lifts positions pushes and/or transfers patients.
Frequent prolonged standing/walking.
Manual dexterity and mobility.
Considerable reaching stooping bending kneeling crouching.
