1About the position:
The Geomechanics and G&G Ops Specialist will provide basic modeling support across various disciplines and functions to enable safe operations & reducing environmental risk enhance field productivity & ensure reserves and safeguard the system integrity & reliability. The position supports the construction setup and of well and reservoir geomechanical models that are integral to upstream activities. The role brings together working subsurface knowledge and expertise in a growing technical area with significant impact and overlap with Shale and Tight Carbon Sequestration Deepwater and Heavy Oil assets. The role requires close collaboration with subject matter experts and chapter managers in Chevron Technical Center to maintain workflow alignment.
Key responsibilities:
Conduct analyses to address geomechanical challenges such as: fracturing fault reactivation subsidence/compaction PI decline fractured injector performance wellbore stability sand production induced seismicity etc
Ability to conduct petrophysical interpretation of various welllogging technologies with experience in open hole and cased hole analysis a solid understanding of petrophysical applications of rock mechanics as well as foundational skills such as mineral analysis. Integrate geological and geophysical well and field data into the construction of 1D mechanical earth models
Develop Finite Element reservoir and well scale meshes and provide quality assurance of meshes
Populate numerical geomechanical models with geological and geophysical data rock properties and relevant pressure and temperature conditions under collaboration with relevant subject matter experts in Chevron Technical Center
Execute numerical geomechanics models extract relevant data and manage results repository
Conduct Finite Element modeling and or coupled flow and geomechanics modeling. Manage create and analyze Mechanical Earth Models
Required qualifications:
BS and MS in Earth science disciplines (Geology Geophysics Geomechanics) or Petroleum or equivalent Engineering from a deemed/recognized (AICTE) university
510 years of pertinent industry experience is required and 510 years of experience in geomechanics field is preferred
Experience in oil and gas industry
Experience in handson geomechanics modeling
Experience with well operations and understanding of the interplay between subsurface conditions and well ops
Experienced in multiple reservoir types and proficient in a wide range of geomechanics analysis techniques
Preferred experience in threedimensional unstructured mesh generation tools such as Hypermesh
Preferred experience in one dimensional log interpretation tools such as Techlog or Geolog
Preferred experience in finite element solvers such as Abaqus ParaGeo or Elfen
Preferred experience in hydraulic fracture modeling software for shale and tight applications such as Kinetix ResFrac or StimPlan
Preferred experience in coupled flow and geomechanics models such as REVEAL CMG XSite or GEOS
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1:30pm to 10:30pm.
