This position is included in a bargaining unit of Housing Works New York City employees represented by a labor union known as the Retail Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU). Accordingly the RWDSU has the exclusive right to bargain over the terms and conditions of employment related to this position and this position may become covered by the terms of a collective bargaining agreement (a CBA) between Housing Works and the RWDSU
Compensation Range: $65000 $75000 yearly commensurate with experience.
Overview:
CORE Licensed Mental Health Counselor Using a one to one and group personcentered counseling model Community Oriented Recovery and Empowerment (CORE) program seeks to improve the functioning of individuals living with mental health diagnoses histories of chemical and alcohol dependence or physical disabilities helping them achieve personal goals in the areas of recovery employment or independent functioning.
Under the supervision of the Program Director the Licensed Mental Health Counselor will provide CORE services to HARP eligible clients primarily for Community Psychiatric Support and Treatment (CPST) Services within the CORE Program and team. Community Psychiatric Support and Treatment (CPST) is individual and family interventions that include goaldirected supports and solutionfocused interventions with the intent to achieve personcentered goals and objectives. CPST utilizes therapeutic interventions such as clinical counseling and therapy which assist the individual in achieving stability and functional improvement. CPST addresses behavioral health barriers that impact daily living finances housing education employment personal recovery and/or resilience family and interpersonal relationships and community participation. CPST is designed to provide mobile treatment services to individuals who have difficulty engaging in sitebased programs or who have not been previously engaged in services including those who had only partially benefited from traditional treatment. CPST services must be delivered offsite unless there is a clinical rationale for delivering services onsite on a limited basis.
The CORE Licensed Mental Health Counselor may also provide Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) in addition to CPST services as needed. Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) is designed to assist an individual in improving their functional abilities to the greatest degree possible in settings where they live work learn and socialize. Rehabilitation counseling skill building and psychoeducational interventions provided through PSR are used to support attainment of personcentered recovery goals and valued life roles.
CORE services are intended to contribute to the reduction of unnecessary hospitalization/ institutional level of care and improved societal integration of those served. Service delivery is designed to be flexible and individualized and is focused on the promotion of skill development and identification of community supports in order to overcome deficits related to function and motivation.
