About the Role
An Environmental Planner is responsible for developing and implementing plans and programs related to land use environmental protection and sustainable development. This role involves conducting environmental assessments ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and working with various stakeholders to promote sustainable development practices. The role will also focus on developing and sustaining relationships with public and private sector clients. This role may involve a combination of office and field work with site visits to assess environmental conditions and monitor project progress.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Environmental Assessments: Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIA) and prepare reports to evaluate the potential effects of proposed projects on the environment.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that projects comply with local provincial and federal environmental regulations and policies.
- Sustainability Planning: Develop and implement strategies for sustainable land use resource management and environmental conservation.
- Public Consultation: Engage with the public government agencies and other stakeholders to gather input and address concerns related to environmental planning projects.
- Data Analysis: Collect analyze and interpret environmental dat to inform planning decisions and policy recommendations.
- Project Management: Oversee environmental planning projects from inception to completion ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Technical Reports: Prepare and present technical reports environmental impact statements and other documentation required for project approvals.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other planners engineers scientists and environmental professionals to achieve project goals.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Science Urban Planning Geography or a related field.
- 5 years of demonstrated experience in Environmental Planning Environmental Impact Assessment.
- Previous experience implementing Environmental Assessment Projects under the Municipal Class EA and all levels of government.
- Advanced knowledge of environmental laws regulations policies and sustainability principles and practices.
- Excellent analytical interpersonal critical thinking and problemsolving skills
- Project Management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment and independently
- Precious experience within a consulting environment
- Possess a valid drivers license and have access to a vehicle for occasional travel to attend meetings conduct site assessments or participate in public consultations.
