The Purchasing Agent manages selecting vendors for noncontract items securing best prices and delivery and placing orders to facilitate and expedite the timely receipt of items. Working under minimal supervision this role is responsible for identifying suppliers researching goods materials services and equipment processing purchase orders and verifying that all purchased items were successfully delivered.
Responsibilities
Reviews products offered by vendors examines supply and equipment requests and orders supplies and equipment while maintaining price control and quality standards in accordance with established purchasing procedures. Researches and compares suppliers goods and services to select the most suitable supplier in terms of reliability product quality and costefficiency. Monitors inventory levels and determines purchase needs. Expedites critical current and past due orders as required and advises requesters on status. Reviews materials upon receipt for accuracy and enters documentation into purchasing system. Investigates and reviews product information beforehand in order to ensure it adheres to best practices. Reviews that orders are being maintained up to date in a tracking system in order to maintain an accurate record of purchases. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
Required: 5 years of Purchasing experience in healthcare or other industry purchasing or a related field
