Summary Coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services such as raw materials equipment tools parts supplies and advertising for organization by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Reviews requisitions.
Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price availability and delivery schedule.
Selects products for purchase by testing observing or examining items.
Estimates values according to knowledge of market price.
Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid.
Prepares purchase orders or bid requests.
Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased costs delivery product quality or performance and inventories.
Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel users vendors and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
Approves invoices for payment.
Expedites delivery of goods to users.

Education and/or Experience
Associates degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
