AECOM is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to provide technical expertise on a wide range of surface water engineering projects including but not limited to: stream/river restoration hydrology/hydraulics dams levees stormwater management flood control drainage culverts bridges bank stabilization; fish passage design and floodplain management. Water resources technical expertise is critical to success in this position as it will be applied to solve unique engineering challenges and provide technical training and coaching to peers and team members.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Lead Hydraulic and Hydrologic Design Projects
Oversee the design and analysis of stormwater management systems flood control structures drainage networks and water conveyance systems using advanced modeling software and engineering principles.
Develop and Review Technical Plans and Specifications
Prepare evaluate and approve engineering drawings reports and specifications for water resources infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and project goals.
Coordinate with Multidisciplinary Teams
Collaborate with civil engineers environmental scientists planners and regulatory agencies to integrate water resources solutions into broader infrastructure or land development projects.
Conduct Complex Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling
Utilize tools such as HECRAS HECHMS SWMM or MIKE FLOOD to simulate water flow sediment transport and floodplain mapping for both urban and rural environments.
Provide Technical Mentorship and Quality Assurance
Guide junior engineers review design calculations and reports and implement quality control procedures to uphold technical excellence and project delivery standards
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications
8 years of relevant Water Resources experience
Experience in preparing site civil design plans and grading. Experience in construction management or engineering support during construction.
Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D Microstation ArcGIS.
Experience with hydrologic hydraulic and geomorphic concepts principles and models (e.g. SRH2D/SMS HECHMS HECRAS HydroCAD SWMM).
Experience and familiarity with geomorphic field data collection techniques including pebble counts channel and floodplain morphology measurements and stream stability assessments.
Experience with hydrology and hydraulics associated with dams reservoirs levees (e.g. precipitation frequency analysis dam breach inundation analysis spillway capacity analysis/design).
