Job Description

Position Summary
Department Information: The Department of Chemistry consists of a wellrounded research community with cuttingedge expertise in a wide variety of modern disciplines including analytical chemistry organic chemistry inorganic chemistry physical chemistry materials chemistry and biochemistry. Job Summary: Prof. Ricardo Vzquez in the Department of Chemistry at Indiana University Bloomington is accepting applications for a postdoctoral research position. The position offers an opportunity to work on an interdisciplinary project for developing organic emitters for life science applications. Our group is interested in developing optical reporters with controlled excitedstate dynamics for biosensing. This position primarily aims to develop organic emissive materials with longlived emissive lifetimes for interfacing them with different biological tissue. The optical characterization experiments will be carried out inhouse using a UvVisNIR timecorrelated single photon counting TCSPC and transient absorption (TA) spectroscopy among others. Interfacing the organic emitters with biologicalrelevant tissue will be carried out inhouse under biosafety level 1 & 2 room standards. Our group will regularly use shared resources on our campus relevant to this project including a stateoftheart light microscopy center and other chemical characterization tools. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with others in our group that work on organic semiconductors for optoelectronic applications and collaborators at other institutions. The ultimate goal of these experiments is to control the excited state of organic emitters so that they can serve as optical reporters that can sense local environments at the molecular level.
