JOB DESCRIPTION:

The National Accounts Property (NAP) business unit offers coverage solutions for large national and global businesses with unique complex risk profiles to provide customized risk management and insurance solutions via retail and wholesale distribution channels. Our underwriting departments are specialized based on program structure type (ground up vs. shared and layered) and distribution channel (retail vs. wholesale).

The Underwriting Consultant Property (Shared & Layered) is responsible for the overall management business development analysis and monitoring of a highly complex book of business. In this role you will under general management direction work within broad limits of authority on assignments requiring a high degree of technical complexity and coordination.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities


Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:

Reporting Relationship:

Manager or above

Skills Knowledge and Abilities:

1. Advanced technical expertise underwriting skill and high level of knowledge of insurance and underwriting principles practices and procedures.

2. Strong communication negotiation and presentation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNAs internal and external business partners.

3. Advanced analytical and problemsolving skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.

4. Ability to deal with ambiguous situations and issues.

5. Creativity in resolving unique and challenging business problems.

6. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other businessrelated software.

7. Demonstrated leadership skills.

Education and Experience

As determined by CNA and depending on the applicants experience and/or qualifications candidates may be hired into one of three Underwriter positions: Underwriting Specialist Underwriting Consultant or Underwriting Consulting Director. Typically starting at 3 years of related experience.
