The fullscale invasion of Ukraine has had a profoundly negative impact on the lives of women and men girls and boys causing widespread destruction displacement and suffering. According to Ukraine Humanitarian Response Plan for 2023 nearly 18 million people out of whom 6.7 million are internally displaced are in need of humanitarian assistance. Multiple forms of genderbased violence (GBV) including intimate partner violence sexual exploitation and abuse sexual harassment conflictrelated sexual violence (CRSV) and economic exploitation are being reported exacerbating the prewar situation. With women constituting the majority of refugees from Ukraine and those displaced within the country the multisectoral impact of the war affects women disproportionately through such factors as increased care responsibilities reduced access to livelihoods and increased threat of genderbased violence.
The Country Office with its national and UN partners continues working towards ensuring that many important gender equality gains achieved before the escalation of the war in 2022 will sustain while emerging challenges and needs to womens rights and empowerment are addressed including though adequate funding strengthen resilience economic empowerment and inclusion of women in the decisionmaking humanitarian response and genderresponsive recovery at all levels.
Reporting to Operations Manager the Administrative Associate supports the Office Operations by performing a variety of standard administrative processes ensuring high quality and accuracy of work. The Administrative Associate promotes a client quality and resultsoriented approach. The Administrative Associate works in close collaboration with the Operations Programme and projects staff team to ensure consistent service delivery and to resolve complex administration related issues and information delivery.

In July 2010 the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. The creation of UN Women came about as part of the UN reform agenda bringing together resources and mandates for greater impact.
