Job Summary
The Academic Advisor performs a variety of diversified administrative services that support initiatives to improve student success and retention. The Academic Advisor will focus on academic planning for probationary incoming new and inprogram graduate and undergraduate students for Vancouver Campus programs. This position will report to the Deputy Vancouver Campus Executive but will work under the direction of Vancouver Campus academic program directors and coordinators in matters of program or academic policy. The incumbent will also coordinate with the directors of units such as marketing and recruitment admissions enrolment services and student services as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
1.Undergraduate degree preferably in a discipline related to student services or to FDU Vancouver Campus programs or equivalent related work experience. 2.Prior experience in an academic environment preferably in student advising registration admissions or recruitment. 3.Strong written communication and interpersonal skills. 4.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 5.Working knowledge of Microsoft Word Excel and Access. Familiarity with Ellucian Colleague (Student/Academic Planning) or similar student information system is an asset. 6.Ability to effectively mentor young adults and mature adults in making appropriate educational choices. 7.Must be available to work nonstandard hours as required including occasional evenings and Saturdays. 8.Proficiency in a second language is an asset. 9.Canadian residency or work permit required. 10.Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Insurance Number.
