Job Description
The Department of Political Science at the University of Washingtons Seattle campus invites applications for a fulltime tenuretrack Assistant Professor position focusing on law and politics.The position is open to subfields of Political Science and other disciplines. The department is especially interested in building on its expertise in research and teaching that engages law through the lens of power and politics including the areas of rights justice courts and legal mobilization.
This position contributes to the Departments commitment to cross field and interdisciplinary studies of the law. You would be joining a broader University of Washington community of engaged scholars and students curious about the many ways law matters in politics and society at the local national transnational or international level. This position is directly tied to the departments deep commitment to teaching mentorship and community engagement as well as research excellence.
Washington State Law requires that this ad list a binding salary range. The base salary range for this position will be $10000 $14000 per month on a 9month basis $90000 $126000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. The position will begin on September 16 2025 and is full time with a 9month service period (September 16 June 15.
Applicants should demonstrate a record of teaching and research critically engaging law and politics. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in Political Science or a closely related field by the start of the appointment.
