This position assists with the development and implementation of the countys Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4 Program Plan.

DPWES The Stormwater Planning Division is a nationally recognized team committed to improving sustainability and resiliency by equitably reducing flood risk and improving stormwater management and the water quality of approximately 400 square miles of local watersheds and the Chesapeake Bay.

The position reports to the DPWES Stormwater Planning Unit located at 12000 Government Center Parkway Fairfax Virginia.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop summary reports and give formal presentations.
  • Manage the development and implementation of and serve as the Countys point of contact for activities associated with assigned MS4 Permit elements.
  • Assist in the development implementation and upkeep of business applications used to input track and report MS4 permit and TMDL information.
  • Prepare the countys annual MS4 Permit report. Organizes and manages files data and documents associated with the MS4 permit and TMDL requirements.
  • Assists with MS4 permit maintenance modification and renewal activities.
  • Research and benchmark the Countys MS4 permit program and TMDL requirements with data from other jurisdictions and sources.
  • Assists in emergency response activities pertaining to snow flooding and other designated emergencies.

This position is required to be available 24 hours a day/seven days a week 24/7 to respond to snow flooding and other designated emergencies on an as needed basis.

Note: The assigned functional areas for this position include environmental quality business analysis public safety services communications project management and quality control.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education experience and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from an accredited fouryear college or university with a bachelors degree in the field related to the assigned functional area; plus two years of professional work experience within the functional area.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid drivers license.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to drive a motor vehicle. Ability to perform field investigations. Physically and mentally able to use all applicable personal protective equipment in an outdoor environment; including hardhat eye protection hearing protection safety footwear long pants sleeved shirt and personal fall arrest harness. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
