Job Description

Job Title: Logistics Manager

Location: Bellville Western Cape

Industry: Logistics and Exports

Purpose: The Logistics Manager is responsible for managing coordinating and executing client logistics solutions while identifying and driving new business opportunities for the company. The role requires building and maintaining strong client relationships resolving operational challenges and ensuring seamless service delivery. The position also involves identifying costeffective logistics solutions managing risks and playing a pivotal role in business development.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Client Relationship Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external clients.
  • Conduct regular client visits as per the visit planner to understand and anticipate client needs providing valuable market feedback.
  • Handle drive and resolve client queries within agreed timelines to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Organize and execute client entertainment in alignment with the entertainment plan.
  • Monitor and highlight deviations from standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent service failures.
  • Coordinate daily operations during red alert periods escalating issues and implementing corrective actions.
Logistics Operations Management:
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to develop and implement seamless operational logistics plans.
  • Prepare and distribute agendas and minutes for implementation and wrapup meetings.
  • Ensure that client logistics plans are aligned with internal reports and systems in line with the companys strategy.
  • Maintain close communication with clients on forecasts providing weekly updates on client expectations and adjusting logistics strategies accordingly.
  • Ensure all client requirements including ad hoc needs are handled smoothly and without disruption.
Cost and Solution Management:
  • Identify negotiate and implement viable costeffective logistics solutions for clients.
  • Provide clients with various logistical solutions ensuring the right solution is implemented for optimal service delivery.
  • Log quotes and provide ongoing feedback to improve quote acceptance rates.
  • Coordinate with finance operations and commercial teams to ensure cost solutions are implemented effectively.
Contract and Risk Management:
  • Ensure Standard Trading Conditions credit applications and credit limits are established and followed for all contracts and quotes.
  • Address any extraordinary costs incurred during logistics activities and negotiate with clients to accept additional costs where necessary.
  • Resolve invoicing discrepancies and ensure that the Vessel File is signed off within 48 hours in case of cost deviations.
  • Facilitate and resolve any claims raised by clients to ensure satisfaction.
Business Development and Growth:
  • Actively identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking cold calling and relationshipbuilding.
  • Present the companys service offerings to potential clients and convert leads into sales.
  • Foster existing client relationships to maintain and expand the companys business portfolio.
  • Research and provide internal feedback on new business opportunities for the business groups.

Required Qualifications:

  • A relevant degree in Logistics Business Management or a related field.
  • Proven experience in client relationship management logistics operations or a similar role in the logistics or exports industry.
  • Strong understanding of logistics processes market trends and cost management.
  • Excellent negotiation problemsolving and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple client accounts and logistics operations simultaneously.

Desired Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and networking abilities to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Proficiency in relevant logistics management software (e.g. Intra NAV etc..
  • Ability to work under pressure manage risks and resolve operational challenges.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to identify new business opportunities and drive sales growth.
