Summary Description: Bilingual Adjunct Instructor of Mathematics is a focused position teaching math for Teacher Education students many of whom are bilingual. This important position reflects WPUs service as an HSI (Hispanic Serving Institution) by providing instruction that meets our students needs. The position reports to the Chair of the Division of Natural Sciences Health and Math and also collaborates with the Teacher Education Division.
Primary Job Duties:
Teach math courses with special emphasis on mathematics for elementary educators.
Articulate and model current best practices in teaching.
Work with students for understanding outside of class either in person or virtually.
Provide feedback to students in a timely manner.
Submit grades and an electronic copy of the gradebook in a timely manner at the end of the course; also submit grades electronically at midsemester.
Work collegially with faculty staff and students.
Understand and promote the mission values and core themes of Warner Pacific University.
Exhibit excellent communication skills in all interactions with faculty staff and students.
Continue professional growth including participation in the professional development opportunities provided by the institution.
Adhere to university policies and procedures.
Demonstrate a commitment to a Christian liberal arts education by upholding the mission of the university and abiding by the Employment Standards and Lifestyle Agreement.
Exhibit commitment to inclusiveness and sensitivity in areas of national origin ethnicity culture gender and disabilities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate degree in mathematics or related field; or graduate degree in education/teaching with B.S. in math. Also fluent in Spanish.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. in math.
University teaching experience in relevant curriculum.
Experience working with diverse populations.
Ability to educate and mentor traditional students.
Physical Demands Work Environment: The position is located in a typical office environment. Professional/business casual attire is required.
