Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervision of Data Governance Team
Summary: The Data Governance Director oversees the implementation of the data governance program providing the policies standards and playbooks necessary to standardize data management. The Data Governance Director is accountable for coordinating and leading data governance activities including data quality assessment cataloging lineage stewardship ethics and security. They collaborate with various stakeholders including business users data owners data stewards data analysts data engineers and data scientists to understand their data needs and expectations while aligning them with organizational goals and strategies. They also monitor and report on the performance and compliance of data governance policies standards and metrics identifying and resolving any issues or gaps. Additionally the Data Governance Team manages the data governance tools utilized for data cataloging and data quality measurement and offers training for data stewards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with Data Governance Steering Committee to define the priorities for data governance
- Develop and maintain the data management policy and standards
- Identifies hires and supervises a Data Governance team
- Define and maintain the Data Domain structure
- Facilitate the Data Domain Working Group meetings
- Provide coaching/guidance to Data Domain Owners
- Define metrics to measure the progress and effectiveness of the data governance program
- Escalate issues/obstacles to the Data Governance Steering Committee
- Promote the value/benefits of the data governance program across the bank
- Stay abreast of new developments best practices and statutory and regulatory changes with an emphasis on data governance
- Identifies gaps and potential enhancements relating to Centier Banks data governance program and activities
- Ability to rapidly comprehend the changes to key business processes and the impact on the overall data governance program
- Responsible for assisting in the definition and delivery of short and longterm data governance strategies and roadmaps
- Identifies technologies to help accomplish Centiers data governance and usage goals
- Identifies and partners with key vendors to deliver and maintain a robust data governance program at Centier Bank
- Responsible for the oversight of Centiers metadata management including technical business operational and infrastructure and usage metadata
- Ensure adequate documentation of testing for the data governance program is retained and meets regulatory expectations
- Maintains current knowledge of the Banks regulatory environment with emphasis on data governance requirements
- Attends IT Bank committee and other required meetings and prepares reports on data governance as assigned
- Maintain current knowledge of financial and general technology trends focusing on the considerations for data governance
- Serve as a liaison and subject matter expert on data governance for all departments
- Foster an environment of excellence and innovation
- This role carries out supervisory responsibilities by the Banks guidelines policies and procedures and all applicable state and federal laws

- Solid SQL skills and demonstrated proficiency with report building
- Working knowledge of Visual Studio/SQL Server Data Tools
- Working knowledge of Python including the use of its data governance frameworks
- Proficient with Microsoft SSIS and SSRS
- Proficient with Power BI Dashboard/Report/Data Modeling configuration and implementation through Power BI Services
- Proficient with DAX language (Power BI Power Pivot SSAS Tabular)
- Strong knowledge of database design methodologies
- Ability to explain technical concepts and processes clearly to nontechnical clients
- Ability to design and implement enterprise level BI practices solutions and platforms
- High level of organization and attention to detail
- Selfstarter attitude with the ability to work independently
- Ability to travel based on business needs
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours and remotely as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Office Products Teams and PowerBI
- Strong understanding of project management
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills; datadriven and resultsoriented
- Experience shaping business strategy for data governance and data usage
- 5 years of combined management experience in data governance or data services
- 5 years of experience designing modeling developing and implementing enterprise level data stores in applications or data mart/data warehouse configurations.
- 5 years of experience defining and managing data visualizations using tools and industry standard practices
- 2 years of experience in a similar role
- A bachelors degree from an accredited university is required with a degree in a related discipline or equivalent work experience
- A masters degree from an accredited university in a relevant discipline is a plus
- Technical certifications are a plus
- Risk management regulatory compliance and/or audit experience is a plus
