JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provides speechlanguage pathology services to patients in varying states of health and illness. The speechlanguage pathologist (SLP) functions as an essential member of therapy and multidisciplinary teams providing direct care to patients. The SLP works within a cooperative team model of care and supports other speechlanguage pathologists by sharing caseloads across sites. They provide evaluation and differential diagnosis of the communication cognitive and/or swallowing disorder treatment and symptom monitoring and education and counseling to the patient family or care provider. The speech language pathologist demonstrates progressive knowledge and sense of responsibility with a variety of specialized equipment including fluoroscopy (e.g. Modified Barium Swallow Studies) according to established practices. The SLP teaches and prepares patients/families and caregivers for continued care after discharge. The speechlanguage pathologist demonstrates dedication to professional growth and development and to the continuous improvement of patient care. The SLP may be involved in consultative services within the organization and in the community. This fulltime position will focus on the outpatient/inpatient rehab settings.
EDUCATION:
Masters Degree from an Accredited SpeechLanguage Pathology program. Clinical certification (CCCs) or eligible to receive CCCs from ASHA. Licensed to practice speechlanguage pathology in the State of Vermont.
EXPERIENCE:
12 years of experience with adults in a medical setting preferred.
