Full time positions supporting elementary and middle school age students with moderate/severe disabilities including students Autism Spectrum Disorder and other complex needs in a public day school setting.
Responsibilities Include:
Under the supervision of a teacher carries out the instructional activities called for in the students Individual Educational Plans and in the classroom lesson plans Assist students individually in small groups or in a large group utilizing a variety of strategies and techniques to present or reinforce learning Implement Behavior Support Plans Support dysregulated behaviors apply behavior deescalation and safety skills and apply programmatic safety training skills as needed (ie. CPI/Welle) Assist with supervision of daily routines and services such as feeding toileting diapering and assisting therapists as well as other service providers Monitor student progress collect and document appropriate academic and/or behavioral data Implement use of verbal and visual supports for students model appropriate tasks skills and behaviors for students Accompany student throughout the day as needed for all classes services recess student lunch time and any other times required Participation in district provided professional development opportunities Any other duties as assigned by the Building/Special Education AdministratorsPreferred Skills:
School based experience preferred Possesses a strong belief that all students can learn and be successful in school Demonstrates a mindset that focuses on assets & growth as opposed to deficits Ability to demonstrate competence in behavior management skills Willingness to try various approaches depending on student need Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with other special education staff and other colleagues in a professional manner Excellent organizational and time management skills Utilize data and reflection to plan for supports and interventions Ability to seek resources and solutions to effectively solve problems Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma and demonstrate through the Parapro assessment knowledge of and the ability to assist in the instruction of reading writing and math OR Associates Degree (or 60 credits) OR Bachelors Degree (or 120 credits) Experience in working with children preferably within an educational settingCitizenship residency or work visa requiredReports to:
