Job Description
Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary parttime positions hired each semester on an asneeded basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School. This is an Evergreen position and the posting will stay open continuously in order to build a pool of qualified candidates for future openings as Adjunct Instructors. Applicants will not be notified unless there is an actual need to fill the position.
PROGRAM OPERATION: Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes. Provide course syllabus to students and follows syllabus content and requirements. Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy. Submit requested information within established timelines.
STUDENTS: Be available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions and/or provide assistance. Deal with student concerns and if necessary consult with program chair to resolve issues.
INSTRUCTION: Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s) notifying program chair of unexpected absences. Use technology such as Canvas PowerPoint etc. as appropriate.
A qualified faculty member in Engineering meets both of the following criteria:
- Possess an earned masters or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in an engineering discipline and
- One of the following:
- Two years work experience in an Engineering field or
- Professional Engineering (PE) License
For ENGR 116: Must either meet the above Engineering qualifications or meet both of the following criteria:
- Possess an earned baccalaureate degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in Engineering Engineering Technology or a Technology discipline and
- Two years work experience in an Engineering field
For ENGR 140 and ENGR 160: Must either meet the above Engineering qualifications or meet both of the following criteria:
- Possess an earned baccalaureate degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in Engineering Mathematics Computer Science or Physics and
- Two years work experience in an Engineering field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with/knowledge of:
- Solidworks or another parametric modeling software
- Solving static and dynamic mechanical systems with calculus
- Programming in C or MATLAB
- Circuit theory and design
- Engineering project design and teamwork
- Undergraduate teaching experience
