Salary: Based on District 70 pay Gird with additional Principal Premium based on experience.
Ahousaht Education Authority (AEA) is seeking a dedicated and visionary Principal to lead our High School and foster a learning environment that reflects the values traditions and educational goals of our community. This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on Ahousaht youth and the greater NuuChahNulth community by integrating cultural knowledge landbased learning and studentcentered education.
About the School & Community
Our high school serves students in a remote West Coast First Nations community (Ahousaht). Located 18.5 km north of Tofino. We offer a curriculum that blends quality academics with cultural and landbased education. The school is deeply connected to local traditions and works closely with Elders families and community leaders to provide students with an enriching and supportive educational experience.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strong educational leadership and ensure highquality teaching and learning.
Develop and implement studentcentered programs that promote academic success cultural identity and wellbeing.
Work closely with Elders parents and community leaders to integrate Indigenous knowledge and language into the curriculum.
Support staff professional development and encourage culturally responsive teaching practices.
Oversee daily school operations including staffing budgeting and student support services.
Foster a safe respectful and inclusive school climate that promotes student engagement and attendance.
Collaborate with postsecondary institutions local organizations and government agencies to enhance student opportunities.
Address student behavior using restorative justice and traumainformed practices. Qualifications & Requirements
Masters degree in Education Educational Leadership or a related field (preferred).
BC teaching certification (or ability to obtain).
Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience with leadership or administrative experience preferred.
Experience working in Indigenous education or a First Nations community is a strong asset.
Knowledge of Indigenous cultures traditions and history particularly in BC.
Strong leadership communication and conflictresolution skills.
Ability to manage school operations in a rural or remote setting.
Criminal record check vulnerable sectors.
