Were currently searching for a Mental Health Professional to join our counseling team in Blacksburg VA to help us in our mission. The Residential Wellbeing (RWB) model at Virginia Tech is an innovative wraparound approach to inclusion belonging and mental health support in the campus environment.
HERES WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE ROLE:
1 Youll be joining the Thomas E. Cook Counseling Center team a department committed to a spirit of excellence in providing timely and relevant university mental health services. You will be an embedded counselor in the department of Residential Wellbeing.
2 Youll be reporting to the Director and RWB coordinator in a regular twelvemonth 100 administrative professional appointment.
3 Youll coordinate with the managing directors for the campus community.
4 Youll be responsible for supporting students in the Cook Counseling Center and in the residence halls by providing individual services to students including initial assessment and treatment planning individual couples and group psychotherapy; conducting crisis interventions and back up for our afterhours oncall service.
5 Youll provide outreach and trainings to the residential wellbeing staff outreach to students in the university community and ongoing therapy with residential students.
6 Youll work 2:00 pm 11:00 pm Monday through Thursday and 8:00 am 5:00 pm on Friday. Weekly meetings will include Cook Counseling staff meetings small group supervision as well as various RWB meetings.
7 Youll be offered a base compensation package between $55000 $65000 along with free residential housing with utilities on the VA Tech Blacksburg campus and a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance paid leave retirement tuition assistance VT discounts and so much more!

Required Qualifications
Masters degree in clinical or counseling psychology or social work
Licensed or licensedeligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a licensed professional counselor or licensed clinical social worker. Supervision may be provided with a goal of licensure within 12 years from start date of employment depending on degree and licensure requirements.
Experience in providing focused therapeutic interventions within a multidisciplinary team.
Supervised experience in a mental health setting. Experience providing group psychotherapy.
Experience with managing crisis situations completing risk assessments and disposition planning to address safety risks.
Welldeveloped counseling and clinical supervision skills.
A selfmotivated selfdirected commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice.
The energy to flexibly manage the professional demands of the role while maintaining positive and healthy relationships.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues with acceptance respect and trust
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Interest and experience working with underrepresented students and international students.
Experience working in a college counseling center
Experience working with Housing/Residence Life.
Experience with outreach and educational programming.
