Job Description

Job Goal:The Early Childhood Special Education Teacher provides special education services as outlined in the Individualized Education Program to preschool students in a classbased program as outlined in the Individualized Education Program.

Qualifications:

  • Appropriate Department of Elementary and Secondary Educators license in thefield or subject for this position
  • DESE Moderate Special Education License Required
  • DESE SEI endorsement Required

Responsibilities:

  • Implements preschool curriculum develops individual instructional plans and helps select instructional materials and strategies that are individually developmentally and culturally appropriate.
  • Collaborates with related service providers to plan and implement strategies appropriate for each individual child.
  • Develops and implements IEP goals accommodations and services.
  • Assesses students progress towards objectives expectations and/orgoals.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • Per the Somerville Educators Union Unit A collective bargaining agreement.

Position Reports to:

  • School Principal
  • Director of Special Education or designee
