The University of Miami/UHealth Department of OBGYN has an exciting opportunity for a fulltime Sr. Accounting Assistant (H) to work in Miami FL. The Sr. Accounting Assistant (H) applies accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information and prepares accurate reports and statements to ensure appropriate accounting control procedures in the assigned division(s). Furthermore the Senior Accounting Assistant (H) acts as mentor to junior staff members to develop talent and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Manages the creation of accounts account attributes account changes and all other related account issues.
Works with other departments to ensure that all deficit accounts are addressed and cleared.
Assists the departments with questions or problems regarding applicable systems.
Handles routine transactions such as disbursements voucher remittances and preparation of standard ledger entries.
Verifies accounting entries for financial processing and reconciles report discrepancies and problems.
Provides backup support for other accounting functions.
Audits reports for conformity with internal policy and makes appropriate corrections.
Performs data entry into a tracking or reporting system utilizing spreadsheet database or software applications.
Supports the completion of filing requirements mandated by outside governmental agencies.
Adheres to University and unitlevel policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions
The Department of Obstetrics Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Accounting Assistant.
Support Department with financial clinical and research related assignments These include and are not limited to:
Petty Cash management including department disbursement tracking and reconciliation
Travel Card reconciliation as assigned.
Workday entry of costing allocations and payroll accounting adjustments as instructed.
Support in preparing gift and grant reports ensuring compliance with funding guidelines
Prepare and enter journal entries for monthly quarterly and annual closing processes
Assist in generating basic accounting and finance reports as required
Perform account reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial data
Conduct variance analysis to identify and explain budget vs. actual differences
Assist in projecting expenses over designated periods to support financial planning
Create requisitions for departmental purchases and manage the approval process
Process invoices for payment ensuring timely and accurate vendor payments

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles.
Knowledge of budget control methods policies and procedures.
Ability to prepare financial and accounting records.
Ability to analyze consolidate and interpret accounting data.
Ability to compile organize interpret and communicate accounting data and results concisely.
Ability to manage a budget and work within the constraints of that budget.
Any relevant education certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
