The Professional Standards Group Leader is a key member of the Firms Assurance Services Department. This position is responsible for ensuring the highest quality auditing and accounting practices. This position requires outstanding technical research problemsolving and communication skills.
Major Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and operation of the new audit quality management standards
- Evaluate and implement new methodology initiatives and technology applications from a professional standards perspective
- Work closely with team members at all levels to analyze and document complex auditing accounting and professional ethics issues related to clients in a wide variety of industries
- Perform engagement quality reviews of audit workpapers and financial statements
- Monitor new accounting and auditing standards and develop firm wide implementation plans
- Evaluate exposure stage accounting auditing and SSARS literature and provide input for use in comment letters
- Author content for external publications
- Monitor practice issues and develop or update internal policies
- Organize and present firm continuing education classes on technical topics
- Speak at internal and external seminars on technical topics
- Coordinate the Engagement Quality Control Review selection and assignment process with the Assurance Partners the Chair of the Professional Standards Group and the Risk Management Committee
- All other duties as assigned
Preferred Experience/Background/Skills
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field
- Seven or more years of applicable experience
- CPA designation (required)
- Outstanding technical research problem solving and communication skills
- Detailed knowledge of FASB and AICPA standards
- Some knowledge of other professional standards (e.gGASB HUD ERISA SEC PCAOB or IFRS)
- Ability to effectively utilize technology and the commitment to learning in the technology environment
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (e.g. Word Excel PowerPoint).
- Ability to work with all levels of the firm (e.g. partners managers associates administrative etc.
- Excellent supervisory analytical and leadership ability
- Ability to set and achieve goals while meeting challenging deadlines and requirements
- Superior organizational and project management skills
- Superior quality in work with close attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong decisionmaking and problemsolving skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team on multiple projects.
- Ability to successfully contribute to the success of a strategic business unit of the firm.

Working Conditions
- The typical office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. M F
