Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring that all preanesthesia requirements are fulfilled for each procedure patient
  • Acts as an advocate to assist patients/families/caregivers throughout the preprocedure process
  • Applies the nursing process through assessment planning implementation and evaluation of the patients preanesthesia clearance/preparedness
  • Provides education and support to the procedure patient respective to their current health state/plan of care
  • Resource to ensure that the preanesthesia requirements are completed
  • Provides support and direction to procedure schedulers surgeons office and OR schedulers
  • Serves as a liaison with the physician office PCP DHI ASC PreOp and MOR
  • Maintains knowledge of all tests medications and possible contraindications associated with anesthesia
  • Completion of the PreOp checklist >/ 72 hours prior to procedure date (excluding emergent/addon cases)
  • Performs ROS medication reconciliation reviews health history and surgical history on all patients having surgery with anesthesia sedation for the providers prior to the HandPthis is done either on phone or in person
  • Performs the PreDay calls to patients having procedure (includes procedure report time review of medications to take in AM following anesthesia policy and answer any questions)
  • Reinforces diet/bowel preps with patients at PreDay call
  • Reinforces NS prep instructions with patients at PreDay call
  • Works with anesthesia and physician offices in obtaining additional test/forms teaching on medication informing pts of lab/test results assisting pts with ordering additional tests as deemed by providers for surgical clearance

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  1. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed as an RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
  2. Minimum of two 2 years of fulltime experience as an RN postorientation or postresidency training.
  3. Certified in the American Heart Associations Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
    • Other REQUIRED cardiopulmonary resuscitation certifications (ACLS NRP PALS etc..
  4. Assists in ageappropriate preparation procedure and recovery for patients undergoing a GI/Pulmonary endoscopy procedure on an inpatient or outpatient basis.

PREFERRED:

  1. BSN degree preferred
  2. National Certification in Clinical Specialty preferred
  3. Other preferred RN attributes are unitspecific.

Work Hours:

8AM4:30PM
