Job Description

Employment Status: FullTime

FLSA Status: NonExempt (Hourly)

Schedule: Varies (generally Monday Friday 8:30 am 5pm /37.5 hours per week some evenings and weekends)

SUMMARY

The Parish Life Liaison acts as an extension of the Archbishops ministry to parishes working to improve the relationship between parishes and the Pastoral Ministry Center. Through effective relationship building the liaison supports both 1 pastors and parish leaders by responding to their inquiries and connecting them with Pastoral Ministries Center offices to offer recommendations (training collaborative opportunities with other parishes etc. resources and support and 2 the Pastoral Ministry Center by assisting with parishrelated initiatives and staying informed on current parish events to inform and influence archdiocesan initiatives so that together they might fulfill the Sacred Purpose of the Archdiocese of San Antonio to make missionary disciples.

This position is active in outreach to parishes and deaneries throughout the archdiocese and requires a high level of customer service to both internal and external constituents.


Position Responsibilities:

  • *Support pastors and parish leaders by:
  • Responding promptly and courteously to their inquiries via phone email and inperson:
  • Resolve issues and concerns promptly and professionally by providing accurate and helpful information guidance and resources to address their needs and concerns (youth ministry programs marriage preparation materials liturgical guidance etc. in consultation with Pastoral Ministry Directors escalating and connecting to other team members as needed
  • Connect them to relevant Archdiocesan entities for questions or issues they have acting as a conduit to these entities (Catholic Charities OVASE etc.
  • Providing updates on important initiatives and guidance on how to connect and incorporate them into parish efforts (Assembly synod on synodality eucharist renewal etc.
  • Assessing pastoral support provided to their parish(es) in the past (funds provided resources recommended training offered etc. and discussing opportunities for the future
  • *Assist the Parish Life team and Department of Pastoral Ministries atlarge by:
  • Researching and connecting with parishes regularly (via their social media channels websites bulletins interactions with other directors phone email etc. to 1 make note of significant parish updates for meetings with parish leaders and 2 ensure parish contact information is updated prioritizing parishes that have are relevant due to initiatives or upcoming meetings between directors and parish leaders
  • Collaborating with other department members to discern relevant initiatives to communicate to parishes
  • Collaborating to ensure the smooth operation of daytoday tasks and projects
  • Providing administrative support including scheduling data entry and recordkeeping
  • Assisting in the planning and of initiatives (pastoral council training parish leadership formation etc. including collecting key information and encouraging participation from parishes
  • *Stay informed and provide updates by:
  • Attending the annual new pastor orientation
  • Connecting with other office/department stakeholders on organizational changes and parish initiatives communicating to the Department of Pastoral Ministries any relevant information
  • Consistently documenting constituent interactions and produce regular reports to influence Department and Archdiocesan initiatives primarily using Asana
  • Maintaining and annually updating the departments contact database as well as the Archdiocesan database of parish information that displays on the Archdiocesan website
  • Act with diplomacy and tact seeking to build and maintain relationships even in difficult or tense situations relating comfortably with pastors and parish leaders across levels functions culture and geography
  • Communicate effectively so that messages are received and understood with clarity and purpose in a variety of settings: oneonone small and large groups or among diverse styles and position levels
  • Collaborate with others across the organization and in parishes in a model of pastoral de con junto and Synodality to achieve the Archdiocesan Vision developing initiatives and opportunities for parish support
  • Balance the interests of multiple stakeholders across Archdiocesan offices and parishes (for instance in promoting Archdiocesan events/initiatives and discerning with the pastor the best way to implement it with his parish community)
  • Follow through on commitments gaining the confidence and trust of others easily
  • Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of self and others.
  • Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information services rendered to clients donors names and gifts internal and external investigations or results of any investigations and financial information
  • Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory
  • Every employee is required to take a solutionoriented approach in their interactions and undertakings as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Pastoral Ministries or additional experience in lieu of degree experience.
  • 3 years pastoral ministry experience at either a parish or diocesan level in any of the following pastoral ministry areas: evangelization & catechesis youth & young adults peace & social justice liturgy & worship or marriage & family life
  • 3 years in customer servicerelated positions
  • License and Credentials
  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid driver license
  • Valid vehicle insurance
  • Roman Catholic in Good Standing with the Church

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Working knowledge of Catholic Church teachings especially the Catechism of the Catholic Church and Church documents (Constitutions from the Second Vatican Council; USCCB Directory for Catechesis)
  • Experience with computer and management software (i.e. Microsoft Office 365 suite and Asana preferred)
  • A solid grasp of interpersonal leadership organizational health and customerservice skills
  • Must be detailoriented organized selfmotivated work well independently and on a team
  • Must have good written and verbal skills with the ability to effectively write reports correspondence and procedures
  • Must have good critical thinking and problemsolving skills

Travel Requirements:

Travel requirements for the position include 10 local and up to 5 overnight.
