Job Description

The Director of Academic Support Services provides strategic leadership and oversight for programs designed to enhance student academic success retention and degree completion. This position is responsible for developing implementing and assessing support initiatives including tutoring academic coaching supplemental instruction and learning assistance programs. The Director works collaboratively with faculty student affairs and university leadership to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that promotes student achievement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive academic support services that enhance student retention and graduation rates.
  • Oversee tutoring supplemental instruction academic coaching and study skills workshops.
  • Design and implement intervention strategies for atrisk students including early alert systems and personalized academic support plans.
  • Work closely with academic advisors career services and student affairs to provide holistic student support.
  • Monitor and analyze student performance data to assess the effectiveness of academic support programs.
  • Generate reports on student retention progression and academic success metrics for institutional leadership.
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities including grants and sponsorships to expand academic support initiatives.
  • Oversee hiring training and supervision of tutoring staff peer mentors and academic coaches.
  • Promote academic support services through targeted marketing campaigns workshops and orientation programs.
  • Represent the university at conferences and professional organizations related to student success and academic support.

Education

  • Masters degree in Education Higher Education Administration Student Affairs or a related field (Doctorate preferred).
  • Minimum 57 years of experience in academic support student success or higher education administration.
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
