BEST Summer Experience counselors will work on a team of 23 counselors to lead and support approximately 10 campers with disabilities ages 1722 during Summer Experience June 16 2025.
BEST Summer Experience is for Accepted Fall 2025 BEST students only.
May be Federal Work Study eligible.
Education:
Counselors must be fulltime Lipscomb University students with at least a 3.0 GPA.
Experience:
Experience working as a camp counselor and/or with students with disabilities is preferred.
JobRelated Skills:
High level of comfortability working with individuals with disabilities (specifically autism ADHD and/or learning disabilities)
Ability to problemsolve difficult situations to independently find a solution
Strong relationshipbuilding skills especially empathy and patience
Creative funloving attitude
Adept at managing stress and diffusing stressful situations
High level of integrity; values consistent with Lipscomb Universitys mission
Start/ End Date:
Sunday June 1 to Friday June 6
Duties & Responsibilities:
Attend a training session with BEST staff before the end of the spring semester.
Arrive on the Sunday before camp and depart once all cleanup has been completed on the last evening.
Stay overnight in the dorms with campers in a supervisory role.
Prioritize all Summer Experience responsibilities for the length of the camp week.
Provide transportation to campers for offcampus outings and excursions.
Serve as primary leaders/supervisors for all afternoon/ evening activities and in the dorms.
Monitor and participate in all camp activities including activities that might be physically demanding.
