Job Description

Pay Grade: AE(1 (Nonexempt Salary Schedule)

Department: Academic Support Programs

Accountable To: KidSpace Program Manager

FLSA Status: NonExempt

Calendar: 261 Days

Creation/Revision Date: December 20 2023

Summary:

Under general supervision implements the KidSpace program ensuring a safe creative developmentally appropriate environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists in the supervision of Instructional Assistants and Support Instructors participate in the evaluation process and resolve staff conflicts.
  • Develops and utilizes developmentally appropriate materials which stimulate learning exploration and creativity in children.
  • Develops and plans childrens daily activities.
  • Monitors childrens activities to ensure safety at all timestransitions children to and from the program.
  • Maintains accurate attendance records at all times.
  • Develops annual budget purchasing of equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains program files student records and other confidential information.
  • Dispenses prescribed medication to children upon the coordination with the school nurse and/or health technician.
  • Ensures center complies with all state Department Health Services (DHS) and Department of Economic Security (DES) regulations.
  • Defining establishing and maintaining standards of acceptable behavior using positive methods which support childrens selfesteem.
  • Promotes and maintains parentschool relationships.Communicates with parents about basic program information and incidents involving their child. Fosters relationships with the Principals Office Managers teachers and cafeteria staff with regard to the KidSpace program.
  • Attends professional development training and staff meetings.
  • Creates planning and supervises breaks and summer camps.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

To be eligible for this position an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and 18 months experienceor an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
  • DHS qualification for licensing director.
  • CPR/First Aid and Food Handlers Certification within thirty days of hire date.

Preferred Qualifications:

It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

  • Associate or Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education Child Development Education Recreation or related field and six 6 months experience working in a child care setting.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

To perform the job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Developing and implementing developmentally appropriate learning activities for children;
  • Early childhood development and curriculum related to childhood development;
  • Management theories and principles including supervision and organization;
  • Personal computers and other various types of office and school equipment;
  • Bookkeeping principles and procedures;
  • Safety and health issues;
  • Interpersonal communication skills while interacting with supervisors staff students etc. to exchange information.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
