Context of the Job:

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) at the University of Delaware is nationally recognized for its exceptional educational experiences and for integrating instruction research and public engagement. With 24 academic departments in the arts humanities social sciences and natural sciences more than 25 centers programs and institutes and featuring outstanding research and teaching facilities CAS serves over 7500 students is supported by approximately 400 staff and maintains annual operating expenditures of over $121M. Under the direction of the Executive Director Institute for Community Mental Health the Psychologist will maintain a clinical caseload and perform duties such as conduct mental/behavioral health assessments provide psychotherapy attend administrative meetings and provide clinical training and supervision to graduate students and community partners.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective high quality evidencebased individual and group psychotherapy to community members seen at the ICMH Clinic.
  • Assess evaluate and diagnose a wide range of psychological and psychoeducational difficulties.
  • Formulate case conceptualizations and develop execute monitor and modify treatment plans that reflect evidencebased interventions that can be accomplished in a shortterm model.
  • Maintain legally and ethically sound documentation and electronic medical record practices.
  • Participate in training program activities including but not limited to conducting seminars and supervising the work of graduate studentsintraining as directed and in accordance with Institute goals.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop personalized treatment plans based on their specific needs goals and preferences. Establish measurable treatment goals and regularly monitor progress to ensure effectiveness and make adjustments as needed.
  • Assess and manage mental health crises and emergencies remotely for clients and student supervisees clients. Utilize your training and expertise to evaluate risk factors provide immediate support and guide clients to appropriate resources or referrals when necessary.
  • Maintain professional licensure and professional competence through appropriate continuing education opportunities.
  • Assists with special projects and performs other jobrelated duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology preferably from an academic department accredited by the American Psychological Association.
  • Completion of an APAor PCSAS accredited internship.
  • Licensed (or license eligible) in the state of Delaware.
  • Effective interpersonal communication and team competency skills.
  • Excellent assessment diagnosis and treatment planning skills.
  • Ability to assess and record symptoms reactions and treatment progress.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of psychological care
  • Ability to use independent judgment; ability to manage confidential information.
  • Ability to maintain quality and safety standards.
  • Demonstrates an understanding and consideration of the differing needs and concerns of individuals with varying identities cultures and backgrounds.
  • Ability to train and supervise students and community clinicians in evidencebased psychotherapy and assessment protocols.
  • Bilingual EnglishSpanish preferred.
