Qualifications:
- Kansas Teaching Certificate/License SPED endorsement required(or willingness and ability to pursue SPED endorsement)
- Highly qualified status according to KSDE and federal regulations
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Job Goal:
Provide an effective program of instruction based on the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
Performance and Responsibilities:
- Builds instruction upon previously learned materials.
- Uses a variety of teaching materials and techniques as appropriate for the content area.
- Uses a variety of teaching materials and techniques as appropriate for all students/adults as assigned.
- Provides for regular assessment of student/adult needs and progress.
- Provides for appropriate reteaching adaptation and/or extensions if needed.
- Provides evidence of individual student/adult learning.
- Prepares for assigned classes and can show evidence of such preparation.
- Demonstrates effective skills in reading writing math and speaking as necessary forassignment.
- Demonstrates command of the subject matter for which he/she is assigned to teach/coordinate.
- Implements the districts written curriculum and the state and district assessment program.

ADDENDUM TO TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTIONSPECIFIC TO SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS:
- Maintain current knowledge of special education laws and regulations and meet their requirements.
- Perform accurate functional and relevant assessment of individual students learning needs for eligibility and educational programming.
- Maintain current and accurate Individual Education Plans.
- Work in a problemsolving manner with other staff and parents to develop a program that supports student growth and success.
- Work collaboratively with staff to develop appropriate modifications curriculum and educational environments for students with exceptionalities.
- Work with a variety of students with exceptionalities from all legally recognized domains.
- Will be required to attend a Special Education Academy.
Job Goals:
- Provide support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for developing special education students success in academics interpersonal skills and activities of daily living.
- Delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines.
- Collaborating with other teachers professional staff and administrative staff in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues and respondingto a wide range of inquiries from students parents and/or guardians regardinginstructionalprogram and student progress.
