School Therapist Responsibilities & Duties Provide individual and group counseling to studentsDevelop and implement personalized intervention plansConduct assessments to identify students emotional and behavioral needsCollaborate with teachers parents and administrators to support students holistic developmentDeliver crisis intervention and support as neededOffer workshops and training sessions for staff and students on mental health issuesMaintain accurate and confidential records of student sessions and progressParticipate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss and develop comprehensive support plansAdvocate for students mental health needs within the school communityDevelop and implement preventive programs and activities to promote mental health awareness School Therapist Qualifications & Skills Masters degree in Counseling Psychology Social Work or a related fieldLicensed or certified as a school therapist in the state of employmentExperience working with children and adolescents in an educational settingStrong understanding of child development and psychological theoriesProficiency in crisis intervention and conflict resolution techniquesBilingual abilities are an assetFamiliarity with special education laws and regulationsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsProficiency in using counseling and educational assessment toolsAbility to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary teamMasters degree in Counseling Psychology Social Work or related fieldState licensure or certification as a school therapistMinimum of 2 years of professional experience in a school or clinical settingDemonstrated ability to create and implement effective intervention plansKnowledge of ethical guidelines and confidentiality laws pertaining to student mental healthStrong organizational and timemanagement skillsAbility to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretionCommitment to continuous professional development and learningAbility to use technology effectively for recordkeeping and communicationEmpathy patience and a genuine desire to support students wellbeing Physical RequirementsThe work environment is in a mixed environment with moderate noise temperatures that are controlled and no exposure to chemicals or other negative air quality elements.The work is light/moderate work requiring exertion of up to 30 pounds of force to move or lift objects.The following physical and mental abilities are representative of those expected to complete the essential functions of the job:Standing for prolonged periodsSitting for prolonged periodsRepetitive motions with the hands wrists or fingersRepetitive motions with force on the back or lower bodyAbility to feel grasp or hold objects by handDiscernment of colors visuallyDiscernment of letters or numbersDiscernment of objects under low light or distant conditionsUnderstanding and communicating in spoken languageUnderstanding and communicating in written languagePerception of soundsMaking decisions using logic and rational thinkingTo perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily.
