General Overview

Reporting directly to Training Project Director the Training Manager manages the day to day activities of the Instructional Designers for the clinical applications. S/He oversees the development of the Epic training environment as well as all training program materials/lesson plans. In collaboration with the Training Project Director the Training Manager oversees an existing relationship with the Epic Application Training Area Lead and coordinates report out on the Integrated Project Plan deliverable status.

Responsibilities

Works with Epic and other consulting staff to guide the development and of training specific work plans at the resource and task level.

Identifies and communicates to the Project Director any issues/problems/delays that may adversely impact the project.

Coordinates with other application and project managers as required to integrate work lesson plans and training environment build ensure deliverable dates are met.

Manages issues identified by the Instructional Design Team escalating nonresolved issues to the Project Director.

Applies knowledge of overall project objectives to Instructional Design team tasks and deliverables.

Ensures quality of deliverables assigned to the Instructional Design team.

Ensures ID team decisions are made in a timely fashion

Accountable for communication activities within and across teams

Schedules and chairs weekly team meetings to discuss team and project related activities issues changes and communication.

Updates weekly team status reports for each team under their supervision including progress critical issues and planned activities.

Supervise work of team members. Delegate work assignments and appropriately set priorities for the team. Respond promptly to team and entity needs.

Mentor team members motivate team to success and give recognition for results. Exhibit sound and accurate decision making and serve as an expert resource for problem solving. Remain flexible and adaptable within a fastpaced environment with rapidly changing requirements.

Responsible for performance management per organizational guidelines

Educate staff on policies processes and procedures. Communicate news/events to staff often reinforcing larger program or organizational communications.

Actively support PMO with design documentation training curriculum and activation plans as appropriate.

Ensures deliverables are approved by the appropriate resources and are completed in accordance with the plan.

Coordinates interactions and activities of training vendors both onsite and offsite.

Reviews final lesson plans for identified standards workflows and completeness.

Reports completion of work plans for outstanding work issues and risks on a weekly basis to the Project Director.

Uses the Partners HealthCare values to govern decisions actions and behaviors.

Direct supervisory responsibility for approximately 710 direct reports with support teams and additional consultants or other temporary staff as needed.

Assists in management of Epic capital and operating budgets as determined by leadership.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelors Degree in Business Education Communication or related required.

Must have 8 years related experience including training with clinical financial and/or healthcare systems.

Must have 5 years of experience developing technical training programs.

Must have 5 years of experience managing training projects.

Must have prior staff management experience.

Skills/Abilities/Competencies

Understand Adult learning theory.

Deliver training in a blended learning environment including ILT VILT WBT and documentation.

Understanding of change management techniques and the ability to apply them.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent problem solving and negotiation skills.

Ability to formulate and execute strategy.

Ability to work and manage effectively in a matrixed reporting environment

Demonstrated ability to effectively manage crossfunctional teams

Ability to build consensus across teams with staff and leadership.

Ability to review project deliverables for completeness quality and compliance with established project standards.

Ability to document and communicate the status of progress against plans taking corrective action as necessary

Working Environment

Office setting with some local travel between Partners Healthcare sites.
