Position Summary
Overview Indiana University Bloomington IUB seeks an innovative and collaborative leader to serve as Dean of the Edward L. Hutton Honors College. The Hutton Honors College HHC is a unique learning community of more than 5000 current undergraduates from across IUBs 17 schools and the College. The community includes talented highly motivated students from all over Indiana more than 40 U.S. states and a dozen other countries who join HHC for enriched academic and social experiences and a host of interdisciplinary learning and research opportunities. In an environment that fosters active innovative learning the HHC challenges and supports students through offering fascinating multidisciplinary courses and providing holistic academic advising a range of extracurricular programs and service opportunities including honors student organizations and targeted honors housing opportunities. The Hutton Honors College also offers grants and awards to encourage undergraduates to explore and innovate by conducting research completing internships studying abroad pursuing creative activities and more. Students in the campuss distinguished Wells Scholars and Cox Research Scholars programs are part of the Hutton Honors College where they can apply for grants in support of research internships creative activity conference travel and honors thesis work. Reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice President at IU Bloomington the Dean serves as the chief strategic academic and administrative officer for the HHC . This individual is responsible for defining the HHCs direction and priorities at the highest level; overseeing its growth and development; managing personnel budget and policy; and shaping the experience for students faculty and staff. Direct reports to the Dean include two assistant deans and four directors. The Dean works in close collaboration with senior leaders in IUBs schools and the College school and department honors programs and campus administrative leaders. The Dean also convenes a campus advisory board and engages the HHCs large and active alumni base. Position Responsibilities Specific responsibilities for the Dean of the Hutton Honors College include: Providing overall strategic vision and operational leadership for the Hutton Honors College establishing and delivering on defined goals objectives and metrics for all aspects of the HHC mission. Coordinating development of the Honors curriculum and recruiting faculty to teach HHC courses and serve on HHC committees. Facilitating the development and operation of targeted programs services and resources for HHC students and the campus. Coordinating with Enrollment Management and IUB schools and the College in defining standards and practices planning recruitment and enrollment of Honors students and alignment with other campus honors programs. Engaging regularly with HHC students HHC alumni and other key stakeholders creating an active engaged community. Supervising and coordinating the work of HHC faculty and staff including six direct reports. Stewarding the HHC budget affiliated facilities and technological resources. Guiding students in their pursuit of fitting honors awards fellowships and recognitions including Rhodes Fulbright Marshall Goldwater and other top fellowships. Advancing fundraising efforts that support the HHC in conjunction with the Indiana University Foundation. Serving as a part of the campus leadership team promoting the HHC and integrating campus and university resources to further support the HHC mission.
