Description of Work:
Our Client is seeking a Senior Firewall Analyst to join our team of qualified diverse individuals. This position will be located in Woodlawn MD.
The qualified applicant will become part of Federal Clients operating unit which focuses on Healthcare IT solutions for our Federal State and Local government clients. The qualified candidate should also have strong analytical problem solving and communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Provide technical analysis in network security planning engineering and design.
- Service as the enterprise expert in crossfunctional discipline of enterprise network and cyber security infrastructure.
- Provide analysis for implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to network security problems.
- Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and cyber security hardware and software interconnection and interfacing such as routers firewalls and Intrusion Detection/Intrusion Prevention devices.
- Coordinate thirdparty maintenance for network and cyber security equipment.
- Troubleshoot problems with department users and department network administrators.
Validate enterpriselevel network security design newly released equipment software and operating system for vulnerabilities and deficiencies.
- Provide specifications and detail schematics for unified network architecture of the enterprise.
- Provide daily monitoring/detection of potential performance/throughput issue and develop risk mitigation solutions.
- Provide guidance to team members and provide status metrics to Government customer and Client management.
- Provide thirdlevel support and troubleshooting of network problems. Periodically provide afterhours and weekend support.
- Design test and implement stateoftheart secure operating systems networks and database products including design of highlevel dashboards using data feeds from different network tools.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum knowledge skills abilities needed.
- Bachelors Degree and 8 years of relevant cyber security experience or Masters Degree and 6 years of relevant cyber security experience or PhD with 4 years of relevant cyber security experience or 12 years of relevant cyber security experience in lieu of degree.
- Must have active (expertlevel) firewall certification: Palo Alto (PCNSE)
- 6 years of experience performing security functions on network devices appliances and security tools.
- Must have the experience ability to translate security mandates and guidelines such as NIST 800series into operational functions.
- Must have ability with whitelisting and blacklisting using network security tools and devices.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US Public Trust clearance.
- Must reside close to Windsor Mill MD. Hybrid may be considered in future.
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with these skills will be given preferential consideration.
- 3 years of experience with scalable firewall platform with either Checkpoint or Palo Alto products.
- 2 years of experience with virtual firewalls.
- Prior experience supporting the federal Client or similar government agencies.
- Knowledge of business processes supporting IT programs networks and/or cybersecurity programs.
- Knowledge of technologies networking principles data flows workflows and IT reporting.
- Knowledge of network security tools.
