Job Description

Radiographer Assistant

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Operations Manager

REPORTS TO: Clinical Lead

Job Purpose:

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant for our Prisons Service (Xray). You will be required to travel to clinics in the Midlands with potential travel to the north and south. The post holder will work closely with Radiographers and Radiologists supporting them with patients during their clinics. To succeed you must have excellent communication skills and a flexible proactive approach to delivering first class diagnostic services and patient care. Training is provided and further career development opportunities throughout the company.

You will be required to keep a company van and you will need a full clean driving licence.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the smooth running of clinics within prison healthcare sites
  • Assisting in the care and comfort of patients
  • Assisting Radiographers and Radiologists during examinations
  • Ensuring the clinical room is prepared prior to the start of clinical sessions
  • Using the patient information systems (Soliton/PACS)
  • Monitoring and maintaining adequate stock levels and ordering supplies of linen gowns and consumables
  • Ensuring and maintaining a patient centred and quality focused approach to all aspects of work
  • Ensure patients have access to a chaperone at all times
  • Uphold professional standards policy
  • Uphold data protection and patient confidentiality at all times
  • Assist in the induction and training of new staff.
  • Provide administration support as required.
  • Adhere to the Corporate and local policies applicable to the role.
  • Adhere to MRI Operational and Safety policies and Healthshare Ionising Radiation polices when working within MRI CT Xray and DEXA.

  • In the performance of the duties outlined in this Job Description the postholder may have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers. They may also have access to information relating to the Clinic as a business organisation. All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential.

  • Information relating to patients carers or the business of the Clinic may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with Healthshares policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and data protection.

Health and Safety

  • Employees must be aware of the responsibilities placed upon them under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 to ensure that the agreed safety procedures are carried out to maintain a safe working environment for patients visitors and employees. The post holder will be required to participate in Healthshares annual Mandatory Training components.
  • The post holder will be required to adhere to effective manual handling techniques due to the requirements to lift and move both equipment and assist patients. Full training will be given.

Terms and Conditions of Employment

  • This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; this means that any criminal conviction must be made known at the time of application. The post will be subject to a criminal record check (DBS).
