The City of Vestavia Hills is seeking to hire a Laborer/Custodian for night and weekend shift. Laborers will help maintain the appearance and cleanliness of City facilities and grounds by performing general custodial and basic maintenance work.*Note: This is an unclassified position and is not subject to the Rules & Regulations of the Personnel Board. Employees in this job do not accrue rights under the Personnel Board Merit System.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Completion of high school.
Knowledge of cleaning techniques equipment and compounds and their proper uses.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos.
Any combination of education training and experience that provides the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
JOB DUTIES
Typical job duties include but are not necessarily limited to:
Performing general routine custodial duties to include dusting mopping vacuuming cleaning and disinfecting restrooms and restocking paper and soap supplies.
Setting up meeting roomsby moving or rearranging furniture (e.g. tables and chairs).
Emptying trash receptacles and properly disposing of trash into designated dumpsters.
Ensuring facilities are secured by locking doors after cleaning areas.
Reporting needs and concerns to appropriate staff which may include submitting or recommending work orders and need for supplies.
May assist or perform minor maintenance such as replacing light bulbs or other similar activities.
Work is fulltime 40 hours per week) on evening/night and weekend shifts
