Job Description

The Department of Economics at San Francisco State University was founded in 1976 one of the first such departments in the United States. Forged out of transformative activism and scholarship the department uses interdisciplinary approaches and foregrounds transnational and intersectional relationships among gender race sexuality nation labor technologies and globalization. Our students engage in challenging academics work closely with professors and lead community initiatives. We encourage intellectual collaborations within the department as well as across the profession and also support applications for internal and external funding to support research productivity.

Responsibilities

The position requires graduate and/or undergraduate teaching in mentoring and advising graduate and/or undergraduate students developing an active ongoing scholarship program or program of creative work in ones area of specialty and ongoing committee and service assignments. Qualifications

Required

  • Ph.D. or M.F.A or equivalent terminal degree (other degrees if relevant) in discipline from an accredited program if relevant. Terminal degree must be completed by the first day of employment.
  • Record of working and communicating effectively with colleaguesand students

Preferred

  • Record of teaching contributions in the areas of: list
  • Active record of scholarship (creative activity) related to specialty area and evidence of external support or the potential for external funding of these activities if relevant.
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate inclusion diversity and educational equity in teaching and/or scholarship/creative works
  • Experience teaching and working closely with students from historically underrepresented communities
  • Record of contributing to collegial supportive and collaborative work environments

Rank and salary

Assistant Professor add Associate and/or Full if relevant. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The California State University (CSU) provides generous health retirement and other benefits.
