Public Health Senior Officer (Inclusion Health)

Permanent
GradeConsultation grade subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review
Fulltime 36.5 hours per week

We have a unique opportunity for an experienced public health project/ programme manager to join our multidisciplinary Public Health Division within the largest Local Authority in the country and lead work that contributes to tackling health inequalities in the city.

This is a fulltime permanent position which is part of the Inclusion Health Team within the Healthy Behaviours and Communities subdivision. We work with a wide range of stakeholders to improve health and wellbeing including internal directorates academics the Integrated Care System partners housing and homelessness justice and the third sectors. The team you will be joining are engaged in a dynamic and diverse range of work focused on the most disadvantaged populations including some groundbreaking initiatives.

About Us

The Inclusion Health Teams mission is to reduce health inequalities affecting inclusion health groups in the city by influencing and working with partners across the council and externally. Our approach is to develop understanding and raise the profile of inclusion health groups needs consolidate/ develop evidence on effective interventions and coproduce approaches and resources to drive action across the system to reduce disparities and improve health outcomes.

The Role

The role will support the Service Lead to define lead or influence a variety of projects and partnerships to improve the health and wellbeing of groups who often face significant barriers to accessing mainstream services such as homeless individuals sex workers and vulnerable migrants. This will involve using your proven public health competencies and sound project/ programme management skills to work in partnership across organizational boundaries to embed inclusion health into wider agendas.

You will also be developing robust evidence base and use it to develop public health strategies and frameworks that initiate evidencebased actions to reduce health inequalities affecting inclusion health groups. There are some exciting opportunities to apply your skills in using data and evidence to have an impact through a number of existing and new programmes and work with partners to act on the opportunities identified.

Skills & Experience

This is an ideal opportunity for somebody who:

  • has a passion for addressing inequalities and improving public health
  • has a substantial experience of working with a wide range of partners and stakeholders in driving Public Health outcomes
  • has demonstrable knowledge and understanding of Public Health/ Inclusion Health priorities and relevant policy environment
  • has substantial experience of developing and managing the delivery of complex projects/ programmes
  • is able to produce and present robust business cases and quality evidence reports
  • has experience of developing evidencebased policy recommendations to inform public health decisions across the local system
  • has strong people management skills and experience in developing staff through both formal and informal opportunities
  • has excellent writing and verbal communication skills
  • is committed to personal development and can easily adapt to changing demands and pressures.
