Direct the University of Texas String Project a distinguished and thriving communitybased string education and teacher preparation program celebrating its 75th anniversary. Conduct research that garners national recognition in the field. Teach courses in the undergraduate music teacher preparation program and in the graduate program in music and human learning (examples include: undergraduate courses in pedagogy musical development music in communities and graduate courses in the successful candidates areas of expertise); serve on graduate committees; supervise theses and dissertations; participate in the work of the Center for Music Learning.
Butler School of Music comprising some 80 faculty and approximately 620 music students has an outstanding reputation for its performance and academic programs. Degree plans range from the bachelors to the doctoral level. Doctorate required. We seek candidates who are superb musicians teachers and researchers whose areas of expertise complement those of existing faculty with a particular interest in string pedagogy the psychology of learning and the musical development of children and adults. Candidates should have a strong record of or show potential for systematic research and should show evidence of successful teaching at the college level and in primary or secondary schools.
