We are offering a hiring bonus of $5000 to new employees hired from this recruitment. The details of the bonus will be discussed at interview and/or offer.
Note: The hiring bonus will not be applicable to City and County of Denver employees who are currently employed with the city or who have been separated from the city for fewer than 6 months.

Wastewater Management oversees all aspects of wastewater functions including the construction operation and maintenance of the Citys sanitary and storm systems. The agency implements city wastewater policies establishes cost controls and fees used to support operational requirements and capital improvements projects and responds to customer inquiries.
What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $30.00$33.00. We also offer generous benefits for fulltime employees which include but are not limited to:

Location
In this position you can expect to work on site at various locations 5 days per week. The hours for this position are typically MondayFriday 6:30am3:00pm.
What Youll Do
The Wastewater Management division has an opening for an Construction Equipment Operator IV Excavator.
Job duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Operates large complex specialized industrial equipment while controlling both the speed and direction of the vehicle and operations of the working attachments and adjusts level and angle of attachments in accordance with the nature of the work while regularly performing skilled work in construction earthmoving and/or other workrelated duties.
- Identifies equipment needs for each assigned project and ensures the safe and efficient operation of equipment and a variety of workrelated tools.
- Inspects vehicle for loose parts damaged or worn tires proper air pressure in tires and other items affecting its safe operation and completes a pre/post trip inspection as defined by federal guidelines.
- Observes onboard instruments while operating equipment and takes routine corrective action if malfunctions are indicated.
- Performs manual labor in construction maintenance and/or other workrelated duties when not driving equipment to or operating it at the work site.
- Assists in preventative maintenance of equipment by washing and servicing vehicles with water oil and fuel performs basic maintenance and makes minor running repairs.
- Keeps trip records and logs reports defects in the vehicles operations accidents traffic violations or damage to the vehicle.
- Responds to public inquiries in a courteous manner and provides information within the area of assignment.
- Participates in snow removal duties.
- Provides training to less experienced employees.
- May be required to be oncall to address emergent needs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Employees may be redeployed to work in other capacities in their own agencies or in other City agencies to support core functions of the City during a Citywide emergency declared by the Mayor.
- Any one position may not include all the duties listed. However the allocation of positions will be determined by the amount of time spent in performing the essential duties listed above.
- Please note this is not a truck driving position you will be operating heavy machinery such as excavators loaders skid steers backhoes and power shovels.

Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience skills and characteristics:
- Experience operating heavy machinery such as excavators loaders skid steers backhoes power shovels and other earthmoving equipment.
- A construction background operating equipment and hand tools
- Leadership skills
Minimum Qualifications
- Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED HiSET or TASC Certificate.
- Experience Requirement: Four 4 years of experience operating medium sized specialized equipment which must include one 1 year of experience operating large complex specialized industrial equipment.
- Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.
- License/Certifications: This job requires driving. Requires a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL B) with appropriate endorsements at the time of application.
- Requires a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL A) within six months of hire.
- Requires a CDL Tanker Endorsement within 6 months of hire.
- Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
