Job description
The Helix School is seeking experienced creative and dynamic Substitute Special Education Teacher. The Helix School is located in San Rafael. We serve autistic children in grades K Transition. We offer our students a safe environment where they can build upon their strength while supporting them as they grow in their own awareness and knowledge develop skills and deepen their social skills. Our integrated curriculum is tailored to the students developmental level sensory processing differences and emotionalregulatory needs. At The Helix School we emphasize our students capabilities and provide motivationbased kinesthetic and sensorybased functional socialemotional and academic learning.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Follow lead teachers instructional plans and assessments
- Collaborate with SLP OT Behaviorist Counselor and Psychologists to provide an integrated plan for developing the capacity of each students
- Provide differentiated support to ensure all students reach their goals
- Adapt lessons to meet the needs of each student
- Plan organize and implement activities specific to students abilities
- Analyze and use data to inform and adjust instruction
- Implement IEPs create goals assess students performance and track progress
The ideal candidate must have the following professional and personal attributes and commitments:
- Certified as a Special Education Teacher in California
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Meticulous about classroom organization
- Passion for teaching and learning
- Very strong team player with a commitment to teamwork and building partnerships with colleagues and families
- Experienced in analyzing and using data to drive lesson planning
- Open to feedback & commitment to developing continually as a professional educator
- Accountability for student achievement outcomes
- A sense of humor and a positive attitude
- Ability to adapt
- Positive performance in preparedness attendance and punctuality
The Helix School is looking for substitute teachers to be ready to cover when there is a long or short term absence.
