Performs and reports various analyses from multiple specimen sources. Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned clinical area.

Position Details:

Applicants must have at least four years experience as a medical laboratory scientist. ASCP preferred but not required. This position is expected to work 3PM to 11:30PM and qualifies for shift differential as well as offshift retention monies. This position is eligible for overtime.

As a member of our secondshift medical laboratory team youll work in multiple areas and refine your skills through time spent inblood bank toxicology urinalysis chemistry hematology and more!As a member of the laboratory team at Geisinger Medical Center (GMC) youll support a 600 bedLevel I trauma and comprehensive stroke centerAND perform testing for the entire tenhospital system. This role will do automated semiautomated and manual testing in a fastpaced collaborative team environment and will have the opportunity to mentor and train team members.

With the volume of specimens processed at GMC youll test abnormal specimens daily in addition to completing lifesavingroutine testinglike hemoglobin A1C lipids kidney function drug screens and volatiles. Youll also work with stateoftheart automated testing equipment and support quality control measures troubleshoot instrumentation and verify results on frontend processing equipment. This position will also have the opportunity to learnflow cytometry.

Education Qualification and Details

Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist:

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university AND successful completion of anASCP/NAACLSaccreditedMedical Technology program OR;
• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological chemical physical or clinical laboratory science AND ASCP categorical certification OR;
• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological chemical physical or clinical laboratory science AND at least two years experience in a role equivalent to that of a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in a clinical laboratory
