Geisingers Eye Institute has an opening to join our Lewistown/ State College team.
Job details
- Geisingers Lewistown Eye Clinic is a satellite branch of the wellrenowned Geisinger Eye Institute: a driven successful and growing multispecialty group integrating both optometric and ophthalmologic services.
- Ability to take on a growing practice complete with onsite Comprehensive Ophthalmology Cataract and Pediatric services as well as a builtin referral network to offsite Retina Glaucoma Oculoplastics and other subspecialties.
- Experience or Residency training preferred
- Our highly trained Optometrists practice medical optometry to the highest scope of practice working closely and comanaging patients with our ophthalmologists.

Position Details:
An optometrist is a doctor of optometry an OD. A health care professional who is licensed to provide primary eye care services. Optometrists examine and diagnose eye diseases such as glaucoma cataracts and retinal diseases; diagnose related systemic (bodywide) conditions such as hypertension and diabetes that may affect the eyes; examine diagnose and treat visual conditions such as nearsightedness farsightedness astigmatism and presbyopia; and prescribe glasses contact lenses lowvision rehabilitation and medications. Optometrists also perform minor surgical procedures such as the removal of foreign bodies.
- Interviews patients to obtain information such as symptoms medical histories and family histories.Performsand/orinterpretsdiagnostic testsas needed.
- Diagnose and design a plan of treatment for injuries and/or illness.May prescribeor administermedications.Prepares maintains and reviews records that includepatientshistories examination findings treatment plans or outcomes.
