Geisingers Eye Institute has an opening to join our Lewistown/ State College team.

Job details

  • Geisingers Lewistown Eye Clinic is a satellite branch of the wellrenowned Geisinger Eye Institute: a driven successful and growing multispecialty group integrating both optometric and ophthalmologic services.
  • Ability to take on a growing practice complete with onsite Comprehensive Ophthalmology Cataract and Pediatric services as well as a builtin referral network to offsite Retina Glaucoma Oculoplastics and other subspecialties.
  • Experience or Residency training preferred
  • Our highly trained Optometrists practice medical optometry to the highest scope of practice working closely and comanaging patients with our ophthalmologists.

Position Details:

An optometrist is a doctor of optometry an OD. A health care professional who is licensed to provide primary eye care services. Optometrists examine and diagnose eye diseases such as glaucoma cataracts and retinal diseases; diagnose related systemic (bodywide) conditions such as hypertension and diabetes that may affect the eyes; examine diagnose and treat visual conditions such as nearsightedness farsightedness astigmatism and presbyopia; and prescribe glasses contact lenses lowvision rehabilitation and medications. Optometrists also perform minor surgical procedures such as the removal of foreign bodies.


Work is typically performed in a clinical and office environment. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
