Department Overview
The Cloud Platform Engineering team is responsible for the development and operations of critical cloud infrastructure platform services and software services in support of Motorola Solutions public and hybrid cloudbased Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for public safety customers. This team is part of Motorola Solutions Video & Services division which offers secure reliable and efficient team communications workflow and operational intelligence solutions for missioncritical public safety and enterprise markets globally.
Job Description
As a Senior Manager Software Engineering you will lead teams focused on R&D Architecture and Full Stack development including the application of Gen AI and Machine Learning to our Cloud services. Your role will be instrumental in setting the technical vision developing leadership within the teams and ensuring alignment with strategic goals across departments. You will drive the development of secure scalable and highperformance solutions while fostering innovation and collaboration within a highvelocity environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
Provide strong leadership direction and mentoring to teams fostering professional growth and developing technical and leadership talent.
Drive a resultsoriented collaborative culture while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
Manage resource allocation team performance and career development to ensure successful project delivery.
Strategic Planning & :
Work closely with senior leadership to align Gen AI Architecture and R&D strategies with Motorola Solutions longterm technical and business objectives.
Lead the technical strategy and roadmap for AI/ML and Full Stack development ensuring it meets both immediate project needs and longterm scalability.
Balance technical debt innovation and quality to meet project deadlines and customer needs.
Crossfunctional Coordination:
Collaborate with other engineering teams product management and stakeholders to ensure integrated solutions are delivered efficiently.
Act as the primary liaison between your teams and other departments (e.g. DevOps Security and Product teams) to coordinate releases resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.
Operational Excellence:
Oversee platform architecture and operational processes ensuring robust performance and reliability in alignment with security and compliance standards.
Implement and promote DevOps and automation practices focusing on increasing delivery speed and ensuring platform security and reliability.
Security & Compliance:
Ensure adherence to security best practices regulatory requirements and performance benchmarks.
Stay informed of the latest advancements in Gen AI ML and cloud infrastructure technologies ensuring teams remain uptodate and compliant.
Continuous Improvement:
Promote a culture of innovation encouraging teams to explore new tools technologies and methodologies that enhance development efficiency and service reliability.
Lead retrospectives and postmortem reviews to identify areas for process and performance improvements.
Basic Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
BS in Computer Science (or equivalent) with 9 years of experience or MS in Computer Science (or equivalent) with 7 years of experience in software engineering including managing software development teams.
Experience leading teams focused on AI/ML R&D or fullstack development (Python Angular or similar).
Proven experience in developing enterprisescale applications on cloud platforms (Azure AWS and GCP).
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines DevOps tools and automation practices.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence technical direction and align teams across departments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Handson experience with AI/ML frameworks and libraries.
Background in cloud infrastructure operations and microservices architecture.
Demonstrated success in leading crossfunctional engineering initiatives.
Expertise with Kubernetes Docker and modern cloud services.
