Job Summary

This intermediate level position interprets geological geophysical or petrophysical data in order to generate and develop leads into exploration prospects.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Analyzes and interprets geological geophysical or petrophysical information from sources such as survey data seismic reflection data well logs bore holes or aerial photos
  • Plans or conducts geological geophysical or petrophysical field studies or surveys sample collection or drilling and testing programs
  • Prepares geological maps crosssection diagrams charts or reports using results of fieldwork or laboratory research
  • Locates estimates and predicts oil and natural gas fields using integrated analysis of data and information
  • Applies geological geophysical or petrophysical theories applications and models to explain predict and interpret data
  • Maintains geologic interpretations for actively drilling wells and provides OSC geosteering oversight and assistance
  • Makes recommendations to management and/or Business Unit teams based on complete integration of data or generated seismic inversion results (both deterministic and stochastic) project economics and risk analysis
  • Participates in local and national Geological societies
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Job Specific Skills
  • Basic knowledge of logging tools measurement and quality control of logging jobs
  • Moderateknowledge of horizontal drilling directional surveys geosteering and geosteering software and workflows
  • Moderate knowledge of field operations including logging units drilling rigs and directional framework and their relationship to basin architecture
  • Familiarity with geologic database and mapping software
  • Moderate knowledge of reservoir characterization and petroleum systems
  • Moderate knowledge of laboratory analysis of samples side wall cores and whole cores
  • Knowledge of qualitative 2D and 3D seismic interpretation and has seismic acquisition understanding
  • Basic knowledge of lease acquisitions division of interest and separation of surface and subsurface rights
Education

Minimum: Bachelors degree from accredited university Geology Geophysics Petrophysics or related field (Geology Geophysics Petrophysics Engineering Math Physics or related field for Petrophysicist positions)

Preferred: Masters degree from accredited university Geology Geophysics Petrophysics or related field (Geology Geophysics Petrophysics Engineering Math Physics or related field for Petrophysicist positions)

Experience

Minimum: 2 5 years related work experience
