Wage range: $33.26 $40.89
Shift structure: Monday to Friday 7.25 hours per day

About the Role:
The Indigenous Wellness Support Services (IWSS) team supports CASA Mental Healths organizational commitment to truth and reconciliation. IWSS provides consultation education and training to ensure Indigenous patients and their families have access to Indigenousinformed culturallysafe mental health care. IWSS works closely with mental health teams to provide cultural and spiritual care as an integrated part of treatment. IWSS supports the continuum of child and adolescent mental health care in First Nation and Mtis communities by offering service providers professional development and consultation services.

The Indigenous Wellness Specialist will:

  • Build relationships with children adolescents families and communities.
  • Support the integration of culturallyinformed practices into service delivery including Indigenous Ways of Knowing healing ceremony culture and spirituality.
  • Work closely with the Indigenous Services team to build capacity across the organization on culturallyintegrated practices.
  • Develop and facilitate universal targeted and indicated mental health programming in schools and communities.
  • Assist in the development of Indigenous Wellness Support Plans with families and care teams.
  • Provide direct and indirect cultural and therapeutic support to children adolescents and their families.
  • Support Mental Health Therapists with assessments and case management as needed.
  • Participate in case management and clinical care meetings and the Indigenous Services Advisory Council.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with community service providers to support a continuum of care.
  • Provide professional development training to partner First Nation and Mtis school staff and community service providers.
  • Complete relevant electronic medical record documentation.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in social work child and youth care education psychology or related field.
  • Minimum of two years of practical experience in childrens mental health care.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and being guided by Elders through teachings.
  • Lived experience with Indigenous ceremony practice healing cultures and spirituality.
  • Proficient knowledge of Indigenous historical accounts systemic barriers intergenerational trauma and the impacts of colonization.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in an Indigenous language is an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 drivers license and access to a vehicle.
  • Proficiency in Outlook Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint) and online meeting platforms (Microsoft Teams Zoom).

Conditions of Employment
  • A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
  • Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA) as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
