Description

The CNC Machinist role is an opportunity for machinists to build a career in an industry that is challenged to support the future of the power grid. S&C Electric Co is growing and the need for additional Machinists is critical to meet demand. The Fabrication team has more than 100 years of experiences collectively which provides a great opportunity for new team members to learn grow and bridge skill sets.

S&C Electric Co. US Fabrication is committed to the manufacturing and ontime delivery of these piece parts to the assembly operations with a very experienced staff of machinists who can operate a variety of work centers able to fabricate sheet steel turn bar stock and machine raw castings into complex parts. In this job you will work in a production environment continuously tending a machine. After an initial training period productivity and quality requirements must be met. Durations of setups and run times will vary. Tasks require a moderate degree of eyehand coordination manual dexterity and the use of both hands and arms on a repetitive basis for a full range of motion.

S&CElectricCo.has launched a Machinists Internship program in partnership with Elgin Community College toprovide hands onOJT project work for students interested in Machining careers.

Eligibility

Students must be within the 3rd or 4th Semester of theIndustrial Manufacturing TechnologyAssociate of Applied Science Program at ECC. Students should visit career services for more information.

Upon completion of the CNC Milling and CNC Turning OJT this training program will prepare the students to be assessed for a FT Machinist position.

Job Description:In this job you will be setting up and operating a variety of numerically controlled machines including turning centers vertical and horizontal machining centers. Duration of setups varies from 1 to 3 hours. Once setup running times vary depending on the job order. You will be working in a production environment where all jobs have a measured standard production rate and you will be responsible for the quality of your work. Most tasks require good hand/eye coordination and the full range motion of both hands and arms on a regular and repetitive basis. You will work in a production environment continuously tending a machine. After an initial training period productivity and quality requirements must be met. Durations of setups and run times will vary. Tasks require a moderate degree of eyehand coordination manual dexterity and the use of both hands and arms on a repetitive basis for a full range of motion.

Length of Training:

CNC Milling will be 24 hours and CNC Turning will be 18 hours of class/handson instruction meeting twice a week for three hours per session.
