The Market Segment Manager acts as the subject matter expert for the market segment and is responsible for definition of the product and service strategies to enhance our value to the market increase market share and grow revenue.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Establish and manage comprehensive product and service portfolio to meet the technical and commercial needs of the market segment
- Collaborate with Marketing to define messaging content and product focus for internal and external communications; support marketing activities with market expertise
- Participate attend and present at industry conferences and exhibitions
- Participate in external organization activities such as trade organizations standards writing bodies and conference organizing committees
Key Tasks:
- Define market requirements: products services documentation and service level
- Identify market trends unmet needs and hot topics to drive product service documentation and messaging strategies
- Close gaps in product portfolio; identify new products to add to portfolio
- Manage product portfolio to remove unprofitable or risky products and suppliers
- Define new service strategies
- Define pricing inventory and merchandising strategies
- Generate content in coordination with Marketing team
- Recruit new suppliers in coordination with Supplier Relations and Product Development teams
- Work closely with Product Development Marketing Sales Quality and Operations to implement new product and service strategies
- Support significant sales opportunities
- 1025 travel to trade shows conferences customers and suppliers
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- 10 years experience in a technical/commercial role in the medical device industry
- BA/BS degree in a technical discipline (preferably chemical biotechnology mechanical engineering or biological sciences; advanced degree a plus)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings specifications regulatory documents and standards
- Experience in medical device design and development; GMP experience a plus.
- Confidence in own abilities and willingness to take on new complex topics
- Willingness to travel as needed
- Keen intellectual curiosity / desire to learn new things
- Excellent business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit
- Strategy development and implementation
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Working knowledge of Microsoft products (Word Excel Power Point Teams Share Point)
- Experience with PLM and ERP systems and product master data a plus
- Proven selling capabilities; understanding of the importance of consultative and valueadded selling
