New Scholarship on the US South: a Wilson Library Fellows Symposium
This fall the Libraries at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will hold a capstone multidisciplinary symposium: New Scholarship on the US South: a Wilson Library Fellows Symposium. Focused on emerging trends in scholarship of the American South the symposium explores the crossdisciplinary currents in historical research created with support of theWilson Library Southern Studies Doctoral Fellowship program at Wilson Special Collections Library.
We invite past fellows to submit a proposal for a paper 2500 to 3000 words) presenting recent research and intellectual work.Papers will be organized into panels that reflect innovative and thematic approaches to Southern Studies facilitated by invited discussants.
The symposium will be held onsite in Wilson Special Collections Library on November 78 2023 immediately prior to the Southern Historical Associations annual meeting in Charlotte NC. On the evening of November 7 an opening address will be delivered. On November 8 fellows will present their scholarship.
Fellows who are selected to present will be awarded a stipend to support travel and participation costs.
A limited number of virtual presentations will be considered for international participants.
Paper proposals are due by midnight on June 15 and should be submitted electronically via Interfolio. Proposals should be no longer than 500 words in length and provide reviewers witha clear idea of their:

Selected proposals will be announced July 15 and the final paper will be due on October 1.
